Setting new standards for mobile voice clarity and personal style, the new Jawbone Bluetooth headset by Aliph represents a complete departure from the gadgetry of the mobile headset industry. Originally developed for military use in extreme environments, Jawbone features NoiseAssassin--a proprietary technology that eliminates background noise from mobile phone conversations. Jawbone is the only Bluetooth headset with a Voice Activity Sensor (VAS) that actually feels your speech, which helps Jawbone distinguish your voice from background noise.
The new Jawbone in black. | | | Widely recognized as the best Bluetooth headset on the market, the new Jawbone is 50 percent smaller than the original, award-winning Jawbone, offer over 4 hours of talk time, and comes with three earbuds and four earloops for a comfortable and personalized fit. Military-Grade NoiseAssassin Technology Developed over years of research for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Jawbone's NoiseAssassin eliminates real world noise better than competing headset because it's the only hands free device that accurately separates human speech from ambient noise. Unmatched in its ability to remove noise from loud environments like busy streets, cars, crowded cafes, and airports, NoiseAssassin is comprised of two features unique to Jawbone: a patented Voice Activity Sensor (VAS) and proprietary Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms. Jawbone is the only Bluetooth headset with a VAS that feels the speech vibrations from your jaw. This enables Jawbone to capture the distinct frequencies of your voice. Proprietary DSP algorithms work in concert with two powerful microphones and the VAS to accurately model surrounding noise and aggressively eliminate it from the conversation. Conventional "noise suppression" headsets do not have a Voice Activity Sensor and can only estimate when speech is occurring. This causes performance issues like voice distortion, especially in the presence background noise. Not Just a Headset, It's Earwear Made with premium materials like medical-grade plastic and fine leather, the new Jawbone with NoiseAssassin combines science and beauty in the most unassuming, yet richly detailed product. Every effort has been made to contain best in class noise suppression technology in a miniature form that is 50 percent smaller than the original, award-winning Jawbone. The new Jawbone accomplishes a clean and sophisticated look thanks to invisible buttons. Touch-surface technology allows the user to operate switches by lightly pressing the outer shield. Curved and rectilinear to follow the face, the outer shield is lightly textured and inspired by three-dimensional noise abatement surfaces. The infer surface, the one touching your face and creating contact with the Voice Activity Sensor, is gently curved to be ergonomic and comfortable on your skin. Offering a comfortable and personalized fit, the new Jawbone comes with three sizes of earbuds and four earloops--two sizes of leather and two of slim, which are ideal for use with eyeglasses. Jawbone can also be worn on either ear and with or without an earloop. Specifications - Talk time: Over 4 hours

Spotlight customer reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: Fit Is Everything Comment: After owning Motorola's and Plantronics' I decided, after very careful consideration, to purchase the Jawbone II.
I must tell you, first off, that fit is absolutely everything when it comes to the Jawbone II. I think the negative reviews given to the product are based around this one issue.
Although the Jawbone II comes with a myriad of "fitting" accessories, none seemed to work just absolutely perfect. So, based on one of the reviews here on Amazon, I spent a whopping $2.99 and got the Jabra Gels from Best Buy.
I will tell you I am a hard person to please when it comes to spending this type of money on an accessory like Bluetooth. This headset is worth EVERY PENNY. I watched the YouTube video with the blower and weedwacker in the background and thought "yeah right". Well, guess what? I tried it next to a gardening crew, on a busy highway and this baby cancelled EVERYTHING. It truly is unbelievable. I also blared my stereo, with all the windows open (including the sunroof), and the person on the other end didn't hear a peep.
When you buy this (not IF) and the fit isn't right, spend the extra few bucks and get the gels. It solves any issues you may have and you will be completely satisfied with this headset. It truly does what it says, which nowadays isn't always the case.
One more thing ... the sound quality on the receiving end is the best yet. You won't be disappointed.
Customer Rating: Summary: Returned It - Would Not Stay On My Ear! Comment: I was REALLY looking forward to having what I believed was the best wireless earpiece on the market. Only one problem: it would not stay on my ear, and others I was talking with kept saying I sounded like I was in another room. So I would push it back close to my ear, and the sound improved...and a minute later the person I was speaking with would say, "Now it sounds like you're far away again." Tried everything, different ear clips that come with it, pushing it in my ear without the clip (as one friend recommended) but no luck. Had to return it because it did not work well. Maybe it's just me, my specific ear shape and size.
Customer Rating: Summary: Returned it due to fit / ear loops / buttons Comment: I just returned mine. Wanted to like it, but the flimsy ear loops are a deal breaker. Without them, it wouldn't stay on, with them it mostly stayed on, but occasionally needed adjustment.
The specific thing that put me over the edge is that you cannot put it in a a pants pocket, especially wearing jeans. I broke the loop as the loop kept bending where it connects and after fixing it every time I took it out it broke.
With out the loop it requires constant adjustment, which has the nasty side affect of hanging up on people due to the button design.
I think with a better ear bud perhaps you could wear it without the earloop and put it in your pocket. I'm going to try a SoundID SM100 or Blueant z9i and see how that works out.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awful Comment: What a piece of junk. It's true I can hear well through it and that others say they can hear me well through it, but where it absolutely fails is in voice recognition with my Motorola Razr. I press the button and say, for instance, "Call Pat Moore" and it comes back with "Did you say, 'Call Yee Dental Center'?" (and then two other choices, none of which sound ANYTHING like Pat Moore). It's absolutely useless as a hands-free dial device in the car (required by law now in California). I hate it. I've tried it for a month and I'm throwing it away it's so bad. Don't waste your hard-earned money on this. (It also looks like cheap plastic in person, not like it looks in online pictures, and worse still, it seems really flimsy. Worst of all, there's no cigarette lighter charger for the car, which is the only place I use this, so I have to bring it in and charge it. That's just plain stupid.)
Customer Rating: Summary: Jawbone 2 Comment: I sent it back, Everyone I was on the phone with said it sounded like I was on a subway!
