Editorial Reviews:
Multi-platinum recording artist Barenaked Ladies will release Snacktime, a collection of 24 original children’s songs through their imprint label Desperation Records. "Our collective kids now outnumber the band more than 2 to 1," explains vocalist/guitarist Ed Robertson. "We set out to make a record that would be entertaining for them … not strictly a children’s record, but a record that children would really enjoy. Our kids are into all kinds of music. Making the focus about what our kids like was a truly liberating process and fun for the whole band."

Spotlight customer reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: Great fun! Comment: I knew I'd be making a good choice with this CD, my kids like the other Barenaked Ladies CDs already...and we were not disappointed. Always witty and clever, they have done it again! I felt really good about getting this CD for my 7 yr old, who loves rock music! And my husband and I love it too! We can listen to something in the car that is appropriate for everyone.
Customer Rating: Summary: Love it! Comment: This music is fun for the whole family. The more we listen to it, the more we love it. A few things don't quite fit with our family beliefs (people come from apes), so we've approached that as a teaching opportunity. We love the humor and intelligent lyrics. Great CD; we highly recommend it!
Customer Rating: Summary: Know what you're getting when you get this! Comment: I've been a BNL fan for quite some time now, but don't have any kids. Usually, I run out and get a new BNL album when there is one - I was a bit slow on the uptake here as well as for Barenaked Ladies Are Me.
I wasn't disappointed that time, but this time I was, not knowing that this is a children's album. That's all well and good for parents or younger folks, but I wasn't expecting this and as a result, I wish I'd looked to see what kind of album this was before I got it. It's a good album for kids and parents, but it was somewhat disappointing for me, since I was expecting more of the same. Some of the tracks are fun, but on the whole it was a forgettable album.
That said, if I do have children, I'll have to pick this one up again, and I'm looking forward to BNL's next offering for adults.
Customer Rating: Summary: Wonderful, wonderful children's music! Comment: This is an album that is enjoyable to me, my husband and 2 year old boy. Vegetable Town is our favorite! And what a treat it was to find various Canadian musicians like Geddy Lee from Rush, telling what his favorite snack food is! We highly recommend this album-so easy to listen to.
Customer Rating: Summary: Snack Time is a Whole Lot of Fun! Comment: I bought Snack Time by Barenaked Ladies to take on a road trip and we all enjoyed it immensely. My husband and I are longtime fans of the band, so it was a treat to see they've made a children's album. Their song on the first "For the Kids" CD is excellent. It's got a great mix of original songs that both the kids and adults enjoy. My five year old's big winner is Track 3, "Polywog in a Bog." Two big thumbs up. Oh, and I like cheese for a snack.
