Summary: Trend Micro - One of the top packages
Comment: I purchased this product from their website, downloading it straight onto a Vista Platform with a Pentium 4 3 GHz processor and 2 Gb RAM. Installation and exection from then on has been smooth. I have also owned it in the past on an XP platform where it ran smoothly as well. I am writing this review as a frequent Amazon.com customer, former computer programmer, and because of some negative comments about this product.
First, look at the Consumer Reports website. This is the number one package for both the antivirus and the suite. In terms of speed, it is faster than Norton, slower than Kaspersky, but consider that it does not bog down my system before, during, or after it runs (i.e., I don't have to reboot to clear RAM). Additionally, products that run faster (Kaspersky) often scan for changed files only, which means there is a potential for them to miss something.
I ran Kaspersky for about 6 months. It is a nice product, and very fast. Security is tight. My only negative is that it bogs down RAM a lot. So much so, that my system often locked up after it ran and also while it was continually running in the background. It is memory intensive.
Norton is very system intensive. It is slow. It does a decent job with coverage (firewall/virus/spyware). Have fun trying to completely remove it from your system if you decide to change products. Don't read that the wrong way, it is a good product overall. I would stay away from their package that cleans up the registry.
ESET appears to have good ratings, but during a brief trial download I could not get the firewall to work on Windows XP.
There are other products, all of which have good coverage. The most important thing is to have a package. This review is mainly to say that Trend has a good solid product that is average speed and not system intensive.

Comment: Like how I can monitor people that are on my network. Makes me feel secure that I can watch when someone logs onto our network when they shouldn't be. It pretty much takes care of itself doing scans and updates without any interaction from me.

Summary: Be Cautious
Comment: I am currently nearing the end of my first year's subscription with PC-cillin Internet Security 2007. I have spent almost 4 hours trying to complete their automated renewal process and still no luck. The interface for renewing does not work properly and no one at their company nor at DigitalRiver.com, which handles their orders can figure out the problem. I'm moving onto a competitor's product.

Summary: Junk - Blue Screen Of Death
Comment: This is not the first time I used this companies software and previous versions did OK. Got the disc and it wouldn't install. Checked my system again for compatibility and I meet or exceed requirements. Also, made sure all previous spyware and such were uninstalled.
Called tech support and we tried to download from the internet. That worked and was able to use the code key to set up. The first thing it did was update virus files and it jammed up. Tried again and get error messages and still stalled. Time to uninstall and try it one more time. Upon uninstalling the software siezed up the computer, got another error massage then the blue screen of death popped up. That's it, I want my money back -NOT! Once you break the seal on the disc your out the cash and they will not do refunds in any shape or form (except for downloaded software within 24 hrs of alledged purchase). I'm stuck with a useless disc for $64.99 and no recourse. They offered a second tier tech, but if I have a problem for the price I paid I want the thing to work, not struggle with tech support ad infinitum.
Obviously, this software will not work for everyone and I will stay away from thier products in the future after this experience.

Comment: Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 is excellent software. It installed without a problem and has done everything it was advertised it would do.
I have used various security software including TM for years and must say TM has always been the best. Almost without exception it is rated good to outstanding with reviews I've read. I certainly wonder about the low rating and some of the poor reviews here on Amazon, it sure doesn't reflect my overall experience with TM products.
