I was expecting a good camera, but it actually exceeded my expectations. The images are extremely clear, even when taken with the optical or digital zoom (especially the optical). When you zoom in with the extreme digital, the image looks fuzzy on the LCD, but it sharpens up and focuses perfectly when you take the shot, even when shooting moving images. (I shot a blue heron as he was beating his wings, and the image is crystal clear; it looks as if I'm standing next to him, although I was actually about 70 yards away.) The movies are very good (although the zoom is a little fuzzy), and the face detection for stills is great. Also, it's very simple to operate with only a quick glance through the manual.
